CLEAN WATER

SAVES LIVES

1 Solar Panel = 11 People

THE NEED

At Australian Energy Upgrades we have a big vision. We are passionate about sustainability!

We have made it our personal mandate to partner with others who share this mandate, to be change agents in our world, agents of sustainability and preservation of human life.

You can help provide clean water for thousands of vulnerable children in Ghana

Every day, more than 800 children die from preventable diseases caused by poor water and a lack of sanitation.

In the region of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, water scarcity is a significant challenge, particularly during the dry season from March to June. To find water, women and children must walk long distances and queue for hours. Even then, the water they collect is usually contaminated and contributes to the spread of disease.

The most common health problems affecting children in this community include diarrhoea, typhoid, frequent unidentified abdominal pain, worms and skin diseases. It is estimated that 50 per cent of health challenges among children in this community are water-related.

Million people live without access to improved drinking water and 2.4 billion people lack access to improved sanitation facilities

1,000 plus children die every day from diarrhoea caused by contaminated water and inadequate sanitation and hygiene

The impact of safe water solutions is invaluable:

it reduces disease, prevents death and promotes

healthier lives, which can also lead to improved

economic and educational outcomes

The solution

Right now there are hundreds of thousands of children who are not being sustained due to lack of clean drinking water and starvation.

How can we as a society sustain our future generations if we can not sustain our own?

We see a world where clean, affordable power is accessible to every people of every nation. We see a world where children don’t have to go hungry, where clean water flows freely and educational facilities have the resources they need to equip children to bring positive change to their communities.

In the region of Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, water scarcity is a significant challenge, particularly during the dry season from March to June. To find water, women and children must walk long distances and queue for hours. Even then, the water they collect is usually contaminated and contributes to the spread of disease.

Australian Energy Upgrades is teaming up with international child- development organisation, Compassion, to establish functioning solar-powered boreholes in two communities in this region of Burkina Faso; providing children and families with clean water and reducing the time that women and children spend walking to unclean water sources.

Families will also be educated on the importance of healthy hygiene and sanitation practices, protecting them from deadly water- related diseases such as diarrhoea.

For every solar panel we install, eleven person will be provided with access to clean drinking water and hygiene education.

This is our vision, this is why we do what we do.
